Dr. Mikael Howard is a board-certified Pediatrician at The South Bend Clinic Granger campus. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Tuskegee University with her undergraduate degree in Biology in 2004. One year later, she received her Master of Science in Cell and Molecular Biology from Tulane University. Dr. Howard attended The Chicago Medical School in North Chicago, IL and graduated in 2010. She completed her Pediatric residency at Advocate Lutheran Children’s Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois in 2013.
Dr. Howard knew very early on that she wanted to be a doctor and believed she would become a surgeon, following in the footsteps of one of her inspirations, Dr. Alexa Canady, the first African American Neurosurgeon in the US. However, what ultimately grabbed her heart was Pediatrics. While on her medical school rotations, she decided that advocating on behalf of one of our most vulnerable and promising populations, our children, was where her passion lied.
Dr. Howard is married with four children. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family on vacations, assembling jigsaw puzzles, and being a positive role model to help galvanize interest in STEM careers and help young girls realize their own potential. She is humbled by the ability to provide excellent care to a diverse population of children and she is currently accepting new patients into her practice.
