With more than 13 years of experience in Hematology Oncology, Shamila Garg, M.D. brings experience from large cancer centers including Yale University School of Medicine and St. Luke’s Cancer Institute at Kansas City, Missouri. She began her career at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine in Kansas City, Missouri where she did her Residency in Internal Medicine and her Fellowship in Hematology-Oncology. During her time at Yale, she also worked as an Assistant Professor of Medicine.
Shamila has expertise in treating all kinds of cancer and hematological conditions and has a passion for women’s health and breast cancer treatment. She was drawn to Hematology Oncology in medical school when she witnessed a young woman diagnosed with breast cancer in her 20’s. As she saw how it affected the woman’s husband, children and family, she felt a calling to help cancer patients with their pain and suffering.
Very compassionate, Shamila Garg, M.D. believes in treating the patient as a whole, with trust, commitment and love. She wants to give patients and family the hope and the tools to fight the condition together with the latest, state of the art treatment options that are available.
Shamila is board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology, and Oncology. She has participated in several clinical trials and publications and won several awards.
She is well-travelled and has vast experience of practicing medicine in several states and countries.
She will be practicing at The South Bend Clinic on Day Road in Mishawaka.
