For Shannon Roach, NP‑C, a career in healthcare started with a family connection. Her mom, who is also a nurse, was the first person to inspire Shannon to pursue a career in healthcare.
Today, Shannon is a board-certified family nurse practitioner with South Bend Clinic’s Obstetrics and Gynecology team. She specializes in women’s health and cares for women of all ages, something she finds especially rewarding.
“I know it’s a cliché, but my favorite thing about being an APP is helping people and seeing their smiles and gratitude as a result,” Shannon said. “It’s very rewarding.”

While healthcare became her career, it wasn’t always the path Shannon planned to take. Before entering the healthcare field, she earned a certificate in fashion design, a fun fact that might surprise some of her patients.
Outside of work, Shannon enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, and antiquing for jewelry and art. She especially enjoys finding unique pieces along the way.
If Shannon could share one simple health tip, it’s one that may change how you start your morning: “Never drink coffee on an empty stomach. Eat a protein-rich breakfast first!”
